What landscape LED lighting involves

A proper landscape lighting system is more than sticking solar stakes in the dirt. We build low-voltage (12V) LED systems wired back to a transformer mounted near a GFCI outlet, with direct-burial cable run through planting beds and under hardscape sleeves where needed. Fixtures are placed with intent: path lights spaced to wash the walkway without runway-strip glare, well lights and bullet uplights aimed up trunks and architectural features, downlights mounted in tree canopies for moonlighting, and warm strip or hardscape lights tucked under pergola beams, stair treads, and retaining wall caps.

We use brass, copper, or powder-coated cast aluminum fixtures rated for outdoor use in the dry, hot San Joaquin Valley climate. Are LED landscape lights bright enough compared to old halogen systems?
Yes. A 5-watt LED puts out the same usable light as a 35–50 watt halogen, runs cooler, and lasts 25,000+ hours. The difference for you is a much smaller transformer and a much smaller power bill.

Can you add lighting to a yard you didn’t originally landscape?

How are the lights controlled?
